There was a 375 mile drive (one way) to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon June 30, 2001. Although further to go, the North Rim is about 1000 foot higher elevation, is cooler and much less crowded than the Grand Canyon's South Rim. There are photos here showing the North Kaibab Plateau, North Rim canyon views, North Rim wildlife and scenery near the North Kaibab Plateau.
